STAINED-GLASS WINDOW PROJECT
The congregation is working to raise funds to have our 38 stained-glass windows refurbished, which have been a part of the church since it was built in 1921. Over time, the glass has sagged; creating paper-thin gaps between the pieces, and several windows are cracked, broken and chipped. Estimates to repair and reinforce all the windows run at about $100,000.
We applied for but were denied funding from the Colorado Historical Society’s State Historical Fund in October 2009. We plan to re-apply this year. A grant could cover 75% of the cost, but we are responsible for raising the rest of the funds. Since the grant cannot be used for work on religious symbols, the church would still need to pay for four stained-glass windows that depict Christ and crosses.
If you would like to make a donation, please send check or money order (with "Stained-Glass Window" in the memo field) payable to First Baptist Church, 701 Kimbark St, Longmont, CO 80501.
